Just do them all. Prophecies is the campaign you can skip missions in. And if you do, you'll miss out on the storyline (and if you skip the desert, you miss out on 30 attribute points - if a Tyrian character).

Thunderhead Keep is the only way to get to the Ring of Fire Islands. However, you should get your armor infused before going up against the Mursaat there and in RoF. You can get infused by doing either Iron Mines of Moladune mission or making a trip through the ice cave in Mineral Springs.
In RoF, you will have to do one quest and the last three missions, since there is no way to run to any of the missions there. The quest given in Ember Light Camp will give you access to Ring of Fire mission. Ring of Fire mission gets you to Abaddon's Mouth mission, which gets you to Hell's Precipice.
But, skipping 30 attribute points is a pretty big price to pay for rushing through like that. If you want to get those, then there are six more essential missions and four quests. You must do Sanctum Cay to get to the Crystal Desert. Do the three Ascension tests there (Elona Reach, Thirsty River, and Dunes of Despair), plus the quest chain from Destiny's Gorge that gets you 15 AP. Do the Augury Rock and Dragon's Lair missions to get to Droknars. Then do the profession-changing quest followed by the quest for the last 15 AP.

Infusion is overrated tbh. If you are a mildly competent player NM mursaat should pose no problems to an uninfused party. I've H/Hed through all the HM missions without infusion (by accident) on my ranger. Losing 30 attribute points is pretty big, the game is certainly completable but you will be at a disadvantage for it and every thing after.
Is it really possible to bypass the Factions/Nightfall/EotN storylines? I'm pretty sure you can't do a mission in them until you finished all prior missions.

im also pretty sure this is the case in at least nf
numerous times i try to do a mishy wit friends and get the message
"(insert name here) is unable to do this mission"
paraphrased badly of course
also gettin a ferry to consulate docks for armor
and tryin to enter the mission but not bein allowed to
and for proph
im 99% sure that u need to complete all previous ring of fire missions before being able to do hells?
(theres no explorable areas for them...hence no runnin/travelling)
i think ac1inferno is jus paraphrasing the missions that allow u to travel to new places?
(which is completely a whole different topic)
or either knows some kind of workaround
or has completely no clue wut hes talkin bout lol
edit: also at the time of release of factions
ppl complained that u couldnt get "run" to many places like u can in proph
so im assuming that u need to complete all the faction missions (minus the lux/kurz branch)
but perhaps someone may have found a workaround by then
personally, i've never looked into this
cuz i always go for legendary guardian

in proph you need thunderhead, then all of the Ring of Fire missions; otherwise you cannot get to the end mission.
in factions, im not sure, but many missions are locked untill you beat the one before it
in NF you have complete most missions, as other wise you cannot procede tot the next one
in EoTN you have to complete all of them.

Thunderhead Keep, Ring of Fire, Abaddon's Mouth and Hell's Precipice to complete Prophecies.
Iron Mines of Moladune for an easy armor infusion, though you don't actually need to finish it.
Sanctum Cay, Dunes of Despair, Thirsty River, Elona Reach and Augury Rock if you are a Proph native and want all your 200 attribute points(and to change secondaries if you have no other campaigns).

remember what your doing. your playing a game. why rush to beat it? IMO Phroph has the best storyline period. factions and nf are pretty straightforward. phroph u really have no idea what the actually problem is until the end of the 2nd to last mission.
the worst invention ever.

Sanctum Cay => gives access to Crystal Desert
You can get your first 15 AP now.
Elona Reach + Dunes of Despair + Thirsty River => Augury Rock
Complete Augury Rock to ascend, at which point you can not only change your secondary profession, but you can obtain your last 15 AP from Droknar's Forge.
Beat Dragon's Lair to get to Droknar's Forge, or run/get ran there.
Thunderhead Keep => gives access to RoF Islands, as everyone else has stated

you can get runs to Thunderhead and sanctum easily.
I would suggest playing the game however mate
